Abridged Introductory Script for Internal or External Events

I am pleased to introduce Provost Kat Weaver.

Provost Weaver is executive vice president and provost at Loyola Marymount University, where she leads Academic Affairs and oversees the university’s educational, scholarly, and creative activities. Since joining LMU in 2018, she has played a key role in expanding external grant success, strengthening faculty support, and advancing major milestones, including LMU’s recognition as a Hispanic-Serving, Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving, and Black-Serving Institution.

A tenured professor of biology, Provost Weaver previously served at the University of La Verne for 12 years as a professor and associate dean. As Provost of LMU, she is leading LMU’s Academic Affairs Division with the aim of advancing LMU as a place where students explore, question, reflect, and grow into leaders of purpose and impact. She is dedicated to the pillars of LMU’s transformative liberal arts education: the excellence of LMU’s faculty as teacher-scholars; the rigor and depth of the university’s Jesuit and Marymount education traditions; and the richness of the university’s diverse student, staff, and faculty communities.

Please join me in welcoming Provost Kat Weaver.
